This FREE service offers individuals an opportunity to speak with a lawyer regarding family law issues.
Family Duty Counsel Services has been running since 2002 through a partnership with Legal Aid Ontario. Individuals can meet with a legal advice lawyer to discuss matters such as custody, separation, divorce and child support. In addition, people are welcome to bring a support person to help with clarification and translation.
Experienced lawyers offer their professional expertise on a rotating basis every Wednesday night. The service is offered on a “first come basis”, starting from 6:00pm until 8:45pm, at Family Services of Peel’s Mississauga office.
When individuals arrive, they are to sign-up with the receptionist and then they will be given an appointment time that evening to meet with the lawyer. Appointment times fill up quickly so you need to arrive early. You may apply for a legal aid certificate at Family Services of Peel if you make an appointment with the Legal Aid Area Office (905-453-1723).
