  3.  Submit a resume accompanied by a letter detailing skills, experience, and areas of interest to volunteer@fspeel.org

Employment Ontario

Tasks

  • Mentoring
    • Mentoring individuals seeking work including; newcomers to Canada; individuals re-entering the workforce; individuals who are seeking to change careers and re-invent themselves; and individuals entering the workforce for the first time
  • Guest Speaking/Presentations
    • For working professionals in their sectors, they can give job seekers insight into firsthand experiences in the sector by sharing their career paths, emerging trends, and recruitment information about their employer or perhaps other businesses they are connected with
  • Support Staff at Community Events/Job Fairs
    • EO hosts events and job fairs in the community. Volunteers help with set up, take down, coordination and other details the events based on their skills and interest in the various roles.
  • Computer Lab Support
    • Work with individuals to search for jobs; access relevant research for employment related searches; assist individuals to apply for online job ads; maintain job board in computer lab

Experience

  • Mentoring
    • Experience within the Canadian Workforce; knowledge of the principles and structures of mentoring; experience with mentoring or coaching individuals
  • Guest Speaking/Presentations
    • Specific expertise of sectors or subjects; knowledge of the current Canadian job market; ability to communicate effectively to varied audiences; previous experience at speaking engagements; willingness to present information to staff prior to speaking with clients
  • Support Staff at Community Events/Job Fairs
    • People skills with the ability to engage individuals in a public setting; understanding of employment services; willing to attend training/ information session related to specific job fair; other duties as necessary
  • Computer Lab Support
    • Knowledge of online applications; willingness to participate in a training regarding customer service; excellent customer service skills; ability to work with individuals with varying levels of computer skills

Qualification

  • Minimum college completed

Time Commitment 

  • Mentoring
    • 2 – 3 hours a month either via in-person meetings or via telephone; email or skype
  • Guest Speaking
    • 2 hours once a quarter
  • Support at Community Events/Job Fairs
    • Approximately 4 x a year; 3 – 4 hours each time

Families & Schools Together (F&ST) Program

Tasks

  • Support the team lead in delivering the program
  • Assist in distributing and collecting necessary paper work
  • Support families in completing various activities in the program
  • May include supervising high-school volunteers and delegating tasks

Experience

  • Must have interest in children’s program with a goal to be an approved facilitator
  • Experience in kindergarten, PLASP, or school setting an asset

Qualification

  • Minimum college completed (ECE, SSW, CYW, BEd., TA, ECA, preferred)

Time commitment 

  • Attend all trainings and commit to a full 8-week F&ST cycle

General Admin Pool

Tasks

  • Support Management team with daily activities as required
  • Provides back-up reception – direct calls and visitors
  • Monitor supplies, book meeting rooms
  • Perform office duties such as printing and preparing brochures

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience in an administrative capacity

Qualification

  • Minimum college completed

Time commitment

  • 5 – 7 hours per week

Peel Institute on Violence Prevention

Tasks

  • Writer (proposals, reports, literature reviews, press releases)
  • Researcher

Experience

  • Experience in research, data analysis, and writing skills
  • Knowledge and experience in qualitative research and analysis

Qualification

  • Minimum university completed
