Student Placements

Family Services of Peel has placement arrangements with various colleges and universities in Ontario. If you are interested in a student placement with us, please connect with the Placement Coordinator/Department at your college/university.

Successful candidates are screened, interviewed and selected according to the placement criteria set out by the college/university and Family Services of Peel. Vulnerable Sector Police Check is required for all student placements.

Please note that all students need to have full COVID-19 vaccination status.

My experience at Family Services of Peel as a Summer Student began in 2014. Not only did I grow as an individual from the experience, it also helped guide my decision as to a career direction. Two years later, I graduated from the SSW Program at Sheridan College. I have always guided my life by this quote, ‘Put your heart, mind, and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the secret of success.’ And to be able to have a work opportunity to apply that principle showed me that I can attain my goals. After completing the Summer Job at FSP, I was offered employment at FSP as a part-time evening receptionist, and have been working now for 3 years as I pursue my education.

Family Services of Peel provided an incredible hands on and theoretical experience during my internship. I was able to work directly with the public in a variety of settings including individual, family, couples, and group counselling. I feel that this experience has not only given me the tools necessary to complete my education, but it has given me a solid foundation of how I will base my own theoretical perspective as a counsellor in the future. I am so thankful to have had this experience with such wonderful people.
