    Family Services of Peel (FSP) is a not-for-profit multi-service agency that delivers a range of counselling, education, employment, and support services.  Founded in 1971, FSP was established to provide services to residents of Peel that focus on promoting and enhancing the well-being of individuals, couples and families.

    Job Description

    To assess needs, and develop and implement personal Individual Support Plans for adults who have a developmental disability (developmental disability as defined by the Government of Ontario’s Select Committee on Developmental Services) to enhance their ability to continue to live independently in their community. The objective is to support individuals and, if permission is given from the individual, their families or caregivers in continuing independent living and integration into the community.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Provide individualized supports to adults with developmental disabilities (developmental disabilities as defined by the Government of Ontario’s Select Committee on Developmental Services) who are living independently in the community
    • Provide educational and learning assistance in order that individuals are able to live independently and without endangering themselves and others
    • Facilitate and coordinate the necessary supports individuals may require and/or seek which they identify for themselves
    • Support individuals in developing friendships within the community and affiliations which decrease their sense of isolation
    • Help mediate, facilitate and inform individuals to make choices for themselves and promote self determination
    • Provide a range of instrumental and counselling (practical and supportive) services to individuals
    • Provide crisis support and immediate intervention supports
    • Work with individuals who have complex and challenging needs
    • Work with other community agencies and community personnel
    • Maintain current, accurate and detailed files and written support plans, which meet agency and funder requirements
    • Correspond in a manner which is clear, concise, factual and accurate
    • Follow all regulated policy and procedure as outlined by Agency, funders and appropriate governing legislation
    • Receive, assess and support all eligible persons
    • Participate and represent the Agency in community activities as they may relate to Developmental Services
    • Comply with the criteria for Serious Occurrence Reporting
    • Facilitate group education and instruction
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with key community collaterals

    Key Qualifications

    • Bachelors level degree in Social Work/Psychology/Social Development combined with a minimum of 3-years paid work experience working with adults who are developmentally disabled individuals (developmental disabilities as defined by the Government of Ontario’s Select Committee on Developmental Services)
    • Demonstrated experience in working with people with a dual diagnosis (complex mental health needs and developmental disability)
    • Current 1st Aid and CPR certification
    • As there may be a remote component to this job, the ability to work from home, consisting of a safe and private home office setting and the necessary technical equipment and high-speed Internet access for remote work
    • Familiarity with virtual work platforms
    • Ability to mediate conflict
    • Valid Ontario driver’s license, appropriate insurance and daily access to a reliable vehicle.

    Program Manager - Counselling Program

    Job Responsibilities

    • Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the Counselling Program Manager leads a staff team that provides individual, couple, family and group counselling services, and off-site counselling and group services through community partners. A key focus of these supports is related to woman abuse and family violence. 

    Key Qualifications

    The successful candidate will possess:

    • A Master’s degree in Social Work or in a related field
    • Membership in good standing in a recognized accrediting body
    • Advanced clinical and supervisory skills and familiarity with a broad range of therapeutic approaches to clinical practice
    • In-depth knowledge of family violence and woman abuse programs and related systems
    • Experience in program proposals, service plans and reports, data and statistical collection and program delivery
    • Experience working effectively with funders and community partners
    • Solid leadership skills including strong coaching and mentoring skills, and be a strong team player
    • Sound understanding and commitment to inter-professional service delivery model
    • Excellent decision making and conflict resolution abilities
    • 2+ years of management level responsibility for a broad range of functions, preferably in a unionized environment
    • Superior oral and written communications skills
    • Goal oriented, highly organized, flexible and adaptable with superior time management skills
    • Evidence of satisfactory attendance record
    • Proven experience in serving diverse communities would be a definite asset

    Job Description

    Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the Manager of Employment Ontario (EO) develops and manages the Agency’s employment service model, funded by Employment Ontario, which assists unemployed individuals in their job search efforts. The Manager implements the key components of the service delivery model including client service planning and coordination, resource and information, job search, job matching and placement, and job retention. A strong customer service approach is essential in the implementation of the employment service model. The Employment Ontario (EO) Manager plays a hands-on role including direct service provision.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Implements and manages the Employment Ontario (EO) Service model
    • Manages program staff
    • Liaises with external employment service providers and partner organizations
    • Manages client service data collection and reporting systems
    • As part of the Management Team, participates in decision-making including policies and procedures development
    • Ensures staff compliance with Agency policies and procedures
    • Conducts outreach to employers to identify opportunities and prompt job matching and placement support
    • Where necessary, provides employers with sensitivity/diversity training, workplace safety training and information on accommodation needs
    • Facilitates work opportunities and negotiation of employment relationships on behalf of clients including placement agreements and contracts with individuals and employers that include training objectives and commitments and financial incentives
    • Develops a training plan with the employer and the participant and negotiates the incentive as appropriate
    • Administers contract with employers, including the timely processing and payment of financial incentives
    • Provides career exploration, identification and clarification of interests, abilities, skills, education and experience in relation to short and long term career and employment goals in a group or individual setting
    • Provides counselling and coaching in life skills that supports successful employment participation
    • Supports mentoring and coaching during the job search process
    • Provides financial support to remove barriers to participation
    • Other duties as assigned

    Key Qualifications

    The successful candidate will possess:

    • Masters-level degree in a related field preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in career coaching and job search strategies including at least 2 years of management level responsibility for a broad range of functions in a unionized environment
    • Strong knowledge of employment legislation
    • Ability to administer and interpret level B tests/psychological instruments, Personality Dimensions, MBTI, COP System or Life Skills Certification would be an asset
    • Certification with Career Professionals of Canada
    • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups – including adults, youth, newcomers to Canada or other groups with specialized needs
    • Superior oral and written communications skills
    • Goal oriented, highly organized, flexible and adaptable with superior time management skills
    • Additional language(s) an asset
    • Valid Ontario driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle are required
    • Computer skills – proficiency in MS Word, Excel and data base usage
    • As there may be a remote component to this job, the ability to work from home consisting of a safe and private home office setting and the necessary technical equipment and high-speed Internet access for remote work
    • Familiarity with virtual work platforms
    • Demonstrated efforts to continuously update skills

    • Advocacy and Public Relations: Represent the Agency in external meetings, conferences, and events, advocating for the needs of the population served by the Agency. Raising awareness about the Agency’s programs and accomplishments.

    Key Qualifications

    • Education and Experience: A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as social work, psychology, public administration, or a related discipline, including membership in good standing in a relevant professional association.
    • Ten years of progressively responsible managerial roles in service development and delivery
    • Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills to oversee and manage a team of professionals.
    • Social Service Expertise: A solid understanding of social service programs, policies, and regulations.
